Welcome to:

Somerset Energy Park

Low Carbon is looking to develop proposals to build a new solar and energy storage park in Somerset, along with the infrastructure needed to export the electricity it generates to the national grid.

The project is at an early stage. We are currently undertaking environmental surveys and assessments. This early work will identify baseline data and constraints which will inform the design of the proposed development, including mitigation measures if required.

As the project will have a generating capacity over 100MW, it is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (“NSIP”). This means we will submit an application for a Development Consent Order (“DCO”) to the Planning Inspectorate, and the Secretary of State for Energy and Net Zero will determine the application.
